5Jun 2022 Review by Tripadvisor traveller AshleyT555 Food is average, soup makes me thirsty but the service is friendly and attentive Unfortunately the quality of the food has dropped since I last patronise their orchard branch before the COVID.
Hot pot—a bubbling broth in which you cook various meats vegetables, noodles, dumplings etc—is an important fixture of Chinese cuisine. Gathering family, friends and loved ones around the steaming hot pot is one of my favourite forms of communal eating. I was pleased to have the chance, therefore, to sample Beauty in the Pot on Yangon’s Sayar San Road. Beauty in the Pot has all the staples of a good quality Chinese hot pot chain which is to be expected as its from Singapore’s Paradise Group. The restaurant was buzzing but not raucous in Mandarin we would say renao’ with pleasant chatter and scented steam emanating from each I sat down, I ticked off my mental hot pot check list. Large hot pot in the middle, which can be split into two small hot pots. I am not a fan of the personal hot pot which seem in vogue in Yangon. Good quality crockery. Large chopsticks for dipping and plucking, a spoon for soup, a slotted spoon for tricky extractions and an elongated sieve for noodles. Beauty in the Pot charmed me almost immediately by supplying paper bibs and little plastic bags for your phone—both necessary precautions for an enthusiastic hotpotter like restaurant won my heart with its dipping station. For the uninitiated, part of the hot pot experience is to create your own dipping sauce which you can coat items in between being cooked in the hot pot and entering your mouth. This station was well-stocked with soy, vinegar, oils, coriander, chilli, sha cha, sesame and well-maintained read Clean.I opted for two soups. The slightly bizarrely-named collagen-rich pot was rich from pork cartilage and featured delicious pieces of silky tofu. The mala’ spicy broth was packed with Sichuan peppercorn, chili, red dates, wolfberries, ginseng, dang gui, dang shen. You can choose the spiciness on a scale from one to three diligence to you, dear reader, I ordered as broad a selection as possible of items to dunk in my pot. The vegetables were packed with flavor, the meat I had Australian beef and pork was fresh and needed only minimal cooking, the restaurant’s signature meat paste was lightly flavored with white pepper and once cooked it took on just the right amount of the broth’s dumplings were very good as well, a light tang from the garlic shoots with the pork and a delightfully slippery skin. The hand-pulled la mian noodles were also exceptional. The meatballs were all fresh and very tasty—in particular the squid. The taro should also be mentioned as a must-order therefore, was pretty much perfect until, dramatic pause, I found out there was no dessert option. Not even a fruit plate. Though we were handed a refreshing crushed ice lime would not stop me from coming back, when I get that hot pot yearning, however. It remains my favorite hot pot experience so far. The food was good across the board. The service was diligent offering demonstrations and advice on cooking times, at times to the point of being a little can expect to pay a little more than you might anticipate for the privilege, however, and should allocate around 20,000-30,000 kyats per head. If you think it’s a little pricey and are flexible with when you hot pot, take advantage of their lunch menu and late-night deal 20 percent off between 10 pm and 1 am.

Beauty in the Pot was where we headed to for a simple birthday celebration this evening. Also known as 美滋锅, Beauty in the Pot is often compared against another competitor in the hotpot scene – Hai Di Lao. Hence, in this post, we’ll do a review of Beauty in the Pot and do a simple comparison with the offerings of Hai Di Lao… Beauty in the Pot 美滋锅 Promotion – 20% off After 10pm Beauty in the Pot is a hotpot concept by the Paradise Group. What We Had at Beauty in the Pot 美滋锅 Beauty in the Pot Condiments Section The sauce we concocted from the condiments section of Beauty in the Pot Side dishes from Beauty in the Pot After ordering, it was time to head to the condiment section to get our sauces and the side dishes available. In the condiments department, we have to say that Hai Di Lao trumps Beauty in the Pot slightly. In terms of condiments selection, HDL has a wider selection and the side dish options were better. During our visit, there was only 1 decent side dish – the seaweed but at HDL you’ll be able to have selections such as beancurd skin and even mushrooms. Lastly, at HDL, if you order the drinks, it comes with dessert options of beancurd, ice cream etc which is another option that beats Beauty in the Pot from the condiments perspective. Beauty in the Pot Collagen Herbal Chicken and Spicy Pork Broth with Signature Fish Tofu and La Mian Beauty in the Pot – Top Up of Soup / Broth Beauty in the Pot Beef Platter In the taste department, we have to say that Beauty in the Pot wins Hai Di Lao hands down. The Beauty Collagen Broth was just so good. Rich, creamy and not so salty. You can be satisfied with the soup just by itself. No need for meats to be cooked within for the broth to be “sweetened”. The signature fish tofu was as good as advertised. Fresh with the melt-in-your-mouth texture. On the other hand, we also enjoyed the signature mashed prawn from Hai Di Lao – though it was comparatively more expensive. Lastly, the portion of the beef platter was generous included US Wagyu Beef, US Angus Prime Short Ribs, Sliced US Beef, US Marbled Beef Cube and though we only ordered this meat platter, we were very much satisfied by the end of the meal. If you enjoyed our content, “Like” us on Facebook Today! All in all, we enjoyed the experience at Beauty in the Pot. We also did a comparison between Beauty in the Pot and Hai Di Lao, finding Beauty in the Pot to be better in the taste department but losing out in the condiments department. Price wise, both were comparable. This means that… If you’re a food connoisseur and taste matters more to you, definitely head to Beauty in the Pot to get your dose of the rich, creamy and tasty broths offered here. If you’re looking for a venue to just chill with your mates, with the better free-flow condiments options at Hai Di Lao is definitely a better option. Also, service is much better at HDL too. We hope you have enjoyed our review of Beauty in The Pot 美滋锅 and the comparison with Hai Di Lao. Let us know more of what you think in the comments section below! If you’re wondering why the 20% discount was not reflected in the receipt above, it was eventually applied when we asked for the final bill. Yup, the 20% discount after 10pm works! On good days, be prepared to wait for tables especially during weekends on public holidays. It felt like a nightmare! And they also have hour policy to dine-in but still, I hate waiting. However, kudos to the entire team that made everything from booking, dining and paying bill efficient. Everyone is trained to greet, smile and explain everything that you ask. ◾Soup base - all the time, I'd order their signature collagen soup pork bone and mala soup.. dunno why but I think that their mala soup base suits my taste bud compared to the more popular Haidilao. ◾Sauce - just mix in whatever strikes your fancy at the sauce station. ◾Essentials - rolled beancurd, tong hoe, emoji mushroom and pork shabu-shabu slices... These few items are always my default order everytime. ◾Others - fish or prawn paste, fish balls, fish maw, drunken prawns. It actually felt cruel to witness the live prawns yes! Died slowly in the wine mixture. But I could not help but to think that prawns have to be consumed fresh. Everything else taste as fresh too. ◾Palate washer - I simply cannot get enough of the iced yuzu drink that cut down the oiliness and the jelak-ness at the end of the meal. Superb! At the end of the lunch and if time permits, we'd head to Godiva outlet to buy ourselves an ice cream of visit May 2021Helpful?1 This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Beautyin the pot is a steamboat restaurant that was originated from Singapore and expanded to Hong Kong. It promoted family gathering as they provide playground for kids to play. They offered dual soup base for customers to choose from, and their tomato and drunken chicken soup base was rich in taste and nourishing. Sugar cane drink was icy cold and cooling, help to quench our thirst.
Calling all hot pot lovers! 2019 was a great year for the hot pot business. Earlier this year, Beauty In The Pot opened stores in Singapore and it was crazy. People were queueing hours to enter, and the restaurant dominated every Singaporean female's IG story. Many people also started going to Hai Di Lao - Singapore's OG hot pot destination to compare the two restaurants and see which one was more worth the hype. Being the kiasu kiasi that I am, I went to try both Hai Di Lao and Beauty In The Pot to see for myself, and had a great time at both places. So here are my reviews of both restaurants, together with ratings of their food, price, service, and dining environment. Lastly, I'll give a verdict on which restaurant I think is better. Note This is just my personal opinion and personal preference so it's all very subjective! Hai Di Lao I visited the Hai Di Lao at Plaza Singapura on a Thursday evening. It was actually a surprise from my boyfriend, so I wasn't expecting to eat there initially. He didn't make a booking, so we had to wait about 20 minutes for our seats - which was actually quite alright considering we didn't have a reservation. We sat at the waiting area outside the restaurant and kept ourselves occupied with the free drinks and snacks that were served by the staff. The snacks were really tasty and ranged from sweet to savoury treats such as popcorn and keropok. We also played sudoku; if you completed the puzzle you get S$6 off your meal or a free dish worth S$6, depending on availability. Usually you can also get a manicure but you'd have to make an appointment! Later, an enthusiastic staff member came out to show us to our seats. He was super nice and friendly, and even helped my boyfriend carry his heavy-ass bag to our table. Once seated, this really nice female staff cracked jokes while she gave us a bunch of freebies such as lens wet wipes, hair ties, gloves, toothpicks, and zip lock bags. She was also super attentive to our needs which made us feel like royalty. We ordered a bunch of food through the tablet device, so I'll make a list for your convenience Soup base - Sichuan Spicy Hot Pot and Haidilao-Styled Bai Yu Hot Pot Steamed and Deep-fried Mini Buns Beef Cheese Ball Signature Beef sliced Sliced Pork Belly Cheese Tofu Sliced Bamboo Shoots Shiitake Mushrooms Golden Mushroom Lettuce Potato Slices Fresh Tofu Tofu Skin Quail Eggs La mian Btw I actually wanted to try the Fresh Pig Brains but my boyfriend was really grossed out...so maybe next time LOL. So some reviews on the food - I absolutely loved the Haidilao-Styled Bai Yu Hot Pot as it was very creamy and flavourful. Some soup tend to be really bland, but this one had a kick. It also made the food that you put inside really, really creamy, almost gooey. The spicy soup was really, really spicy, but it was delicious. It was also more "辣" spicy than "麻" numbing, and we had to take a few breaks in between drinking it because we kept perspiring. The meat was great! Super juicy, marinated well and easy to eat. Special shout out to the man tou mini buns too, as they were crisp and soft, and went perfect with the condensed milk. I also loved the cheese tofu because the melted cheese was abundant and burst in your mouth. While the la mian was so-so, the best thing about it was probably the performance brought to us by the chef who did the "flying noodle" dance. He even let my boyfriend give it a try, which was hilarious. Our billed totalled to S$ including GST and service charge, which I felt was reasonable because we were so full after that. As we both watched a movie before that, we could also use our movie tickets to get S$6 per ticket off the bill. However, you had to choose between the sudoku or movie ticket discount because you can't use two promos at once. I had a really great dining experience at Hai Di Lao because the staff were so attentive, genuine and friendly. It felt like they were really very happy to serve us. They were also very efficient and were constantly alert - clearing our plates, refilling our water, or asking if everything was fine. With such great food and service, I'd come again for sure. The only downside is the long waiting times, especially at other locations such as Clarke Quay. In fact the day before I tried to queue at BITP at Buona Vista, but was told that we had to wait up to one hour. So the next day the day we ended up going, I called up the BITP VivoCity branch at around 5pm and got a queue number. There were about 40 tables before us, so plus minus we were expected to wait about 2-3 hours. The good thing about BITP is that there's an app where you can take a queue number and get updated on the tables in front of you. All you have to do is call the restaurant up and tell them the branch that you want to visit. They'll then send you a text with a link where you can get all the updates on this app. The BITP at VivoCity also has a waiting area with drinks, as well as a children play area. It took 3 hours before it was our turn to enter the restaurant, and by then we were famished. Thank God we did a call-in reservation. We were led to our table and taught how to use the tablet to order our food. The tablet was super problematic and couldn't really detect touch, so we took a long time to order. We did ask the staff for help, and even they couldn't order so they just took our order manually. Anyway, here's what we got Beauty Collagen Broth and Spicy Nourishing Broth Sliced Pork Belly Sliced Beef Fish Balls Meat Balls Lettuce Sliced Bamboo Shoots Shiitake Mushrooms Fresh Tofu Tofu Skin Prawn Pastes La mian There's also a sauce bar for you to create your own blend of sauces! BITP's signature blend is the shacha sauce, sesame sauce, chili oil, and light soya sauce. The sauce bar also serves fruits such as watermelon and dragon fruit. BITP’s Beauty Collagen Broth was the best collagen broth I've ever tasted in my life, and yes, it defeats Hai Di Lao. It was so so creamy but so refreshing, and it didn't make us feel jelak at all. The Spicy Nourishing Broth was so-so - I didn't really like it but it worked well when I needed something more bland. The mushrooms in the soup were nice though. The meat slices were really good, soft and juicy. While the variety of food at BITP is less than Hai Di Lao, I'd say that the portions at BITP is slightly larger. The meat slices are larger, as well as the meatballs. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I felt! But overall, the food was really, really great and I had no complaints. I love love the environment at BITP. The one at VivoCity had pink roses everywhere, and the decoration was really classy. The pink and blue pastels also gave off a really dreamy and girly vibe, which is probably why BITP is so popular among females! The restaurant was also gigantic, and had different dining areas - the private dining rooms, big tables for up to 10 diners, and the cosier 4-seaters. The environment is also less chaotic than Hai Di Lao. Service wise, I'd say that Hai Di Lao is definitely better. The staff at BITP are polite, but they aren't as hospitable and friendly - but that's really fine with me, since friendliness is a bonus. But I think it's worthy to note that they forgot to serve us our complementary palette cleansers after the meal, which deserves another minus of 1 point. Our bill was about S$150++ as there were 4 of us so we ordered more food. I would definitely come back to Beauty In The Pot as I really enjoyed the food there, and I hope that there will be more varieties in the future! While prices are similar for both, there are differences in terms of food variety, service quality, and the dining environment. As stated above, BITP has slightly less food options, and their service is so-so. During my meal, the staff were often inattentive and it took really long for them to serve the drinks or just to come over to our table. They also didn't really look us in the eye when they spoke to us, and they forgot to serve us our final dish. Environment wise, BITP is more IG-worthy and has really great lighting. The interior is also beautiful and cosy despite the size. So that's my review for both Hai Di Lao and Beauty In The Pot! Do keep in mind that these are my personal opinions, and that the experiences may differ from customer to customer. Happy eating! Love this post? It is a great place to go with your besties for a fun time. They have private rooms and a children's play area so kids can be entertained...as well. Sauces are a must for hotpots and they have an impressive range. There is a recipe for different sauces which you can experiment with. Ordering is simple with the digital menu which is clear and easy to use. The signature collagen soup was creamy and loaded with red dates. I definitely recommend drinking the soup before putting anything in. All the ingredients are fresh and my favourite is the blood jelly. To nibble on was the crispy egg salted fish skin which are so addictive. The noodles go well in the spicy soup and they have a nice chew to it.
